Implementing e-Business Solutions
Devan Shepherd - CEO, XMaLpha
October 25, 2001
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

E-business, as implemented on the Internet, is the greatest driver of change in the commercial community today.  The importance of integrated business-to-business transactions is increasing as the corporate world embraces Supply Chain Management, e-Procurement, m-Business and related technologies.

To effectively participate in the exchange of e-business transactions, companies must adopt a common language for the exchange of structured information.  XML offers the means of creating common business languages.  This seminar will provide a hands-on, implementation-oriented, review of major e-Business solutions and technological interfaces from vendors such as Dell, IBM, Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, Commerce-One, and others.  Participants will not only have an opportunity to see the tools in action, but also install all of the software packages on computers provided by Dell Computer Inc. (one of several major sponsors of this exciting event) and produce real-time business transactions in a simulated marketplace.

A Complete Overview of Cross-Platform XML Solution Design
Devan Shepherd - CEO, XMaLpha
November 7, 2001
10:30 AM - 3:30 PM

During this two-day tutorial, participants will learn to make use of cross-platform application design using Java, in concert with XML.  The best combination of fully internationalized, open, integrated, and vendor agnostic solutions can be accomplished by marrying the application capabilities of Java with the data modeling capabilities of XML vocabularies. The future of Business Solution Development will thrive on the "Write Once, Run Anywhere" nature of Java and the intelligence of XML data structures. XML and Java are powerful allies and the ancillary toolset is elegant and efficient.

Participants will learn about Transformation via APIs using SAX, DOM, JDOM, and TRaX. A major focus on Web-based data binding solutions, using server-driven approaches will be offered. In addition, XML based messaging, Webservices and integration will be explored in detail with code examples that participants can take away and use immediately.
